Prayer for New Beginners LESSON 3: A Simple Way to Pray

Study Guide · Psalm 100:4; Philippians 4:6 · October 2, 2026

1.Truth to Remember

A simple prayer method can help new believers pray with more confidence and direction.

2.Connection to Life

Brothers and sisters, sometimes we want to pray, but we do not know how to begin.

It is like walking on a path for the first time. If someone shows us the way, we feel more confident.

In the same way, a simple prayer path can help us come to God.

3.What the Bible Says

Psalm 100:4; Philippians 4:6

Psalm 100:4 says we enter God's gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise.

Philippians 4:6 teaches us to bring our requests to God with prayer and thanksgiving.

These verses remind us to come to God with praise, thanksgiving, trust, and honest requests.

4.What This Means

First, begin with God's Word.

Read the Bible before you pray. God's Word searches our hearts. It shows us what needs to change and helps our faith grow.

Second, confess your sin and ask God to cleanse your heart.

Confession means we honestly tell God what we have done wrong. We can ask Him, "Lord, search my heart. Cleanse me. Help me walk in Your way."

Third, offer yourself to God.

This means we give our lives to Him again. We say, "Lord, I belong to You. Use my life for Your will." This is called consecration.

Fourth, thank God, praise Him, and bring your requests.

Thank God for His goodness. Praise Him for who He is. Then bring your needs, your family, your church, and your ministry to Him.

5.A Story to Remember

Imagine a new believer who wants to pray but feels lost.

His pastor teaches him a simple path: read the Bible, confess sin, offer yourself to God, thank Him, praise Him, and ask for help.

The next morning, he follows the path. His prayer is still simple, but now he knows how to begin.

6.How to Apply This Lesson

Use this simple prayer path this week.

Read God's Word. Confess your sin. Ask God to cleanse your heart. Offer yourself to Him. Thank Him and praise Him. Bring your requests to Him.

This simple pattern can help you pray with confidence.

7.Respond and Pray

Which part of this prayer path do you need to practice more?

Prayer: Father, teach us a simple way to pray. Help us listen to Your Word, confess our sins, offer ourselves to You, and bring our needs with thanksgiving and faith. In Jesus' name, amen.
