Christian Approaches to Hardship LESSON 4: Do Not Carry Your Burden Alone

Study Guide · Galatians 6:2 · September 29, 2026

1.Truth to Remember

God gives us the church so we can strengthen, comfort, and help one another in hard times.

2.Connection to Life

Brothers and sisters, in many Filipino families, people do not suffer alone.

When someone is sick, relatives visit. When someone dies, neighbors come. Church members bring food, pray, and sit with the family.

This is a good picture of the church. God wants His people to carry burdens together.

3.What the Bible Says

Galatians 6:2 says, "Carry each other's burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ."

This means Christians should help one another when life becomes heavy.

4.What This Means

First, the church should strengthen believers.

Pastors and leaders should prepare people for hard times. They do this by teaching God's Word, praying with the church, and showing a good example.

Second, the church should comfort those who suffer.

Comfort is not only giving advice. Sometimes comfort means listening. Sometimes it means praying. Sometimes it means sitting beside a person who is crying.

Third, the church should give practical help.

If someone is hungry, we can share food. If someone is sick, we can visit. If a family is grieving, we can help with daily needs.

Brothers and sisters, love must become visible.

5.A Story to Remember

A church member named Mang Pedro became sick and could not work.

At first, he felt ashamed to tell anyone. But his pastor visited him. The church prayed for him. Some members brought rice and vegetables. Others helped his family with transportation to the clinic.

Mang Pedro said, "I thought I was alone. But now I see that God is caring for me through His people."

6.What We Should Do

Do not suffer alone.

If you are hurting, tell a trusted pastor, leader, or mature believer. Ask for prayer. Let the church help you.

Also, look around. Who is suffering? Who is quiet? Who needs a visit, food, prayer, or encouragement?

Be the hands of Christ to someone this week.

7.Respond and Pray

Ask God to help you receive care from His people when you are hurting. Also ask Him to show you someone you can comfort and help this week.

Lord, thank You for giving us the church as a family. Help us carry one another's burdens, comfort the hurting, strengthen the weak, and give practical help with love. In Jesus' name, amen.
