God as Judge
As a part of his sovereignty and authority, God is executor of his righteousness within the created order. Jesus Christ shares in this ongoing work.
God is Judge over the whole of creation.
(1) He judges the earth.
Ge 18:25 – Far be it from You to do such a thing as this, to slay the righteous with the wicked, so that the righteous should be as the wicked; far be it from You! Shall not the Judge of all the earth do right?” Ps 9:8; Ps 58:11; Ps 82:8; Ps 94:2; Ps 96:13; Ps 98:9.
(2) He judges every individual.
Eze 33:20 – Yet you say, ‘The way of the Lord is not fair.’ O house of Israel, I will judge every one of you according to his own ways.” Ec 3:17; Heb 9:27; 1 Pe 4:5; Jud 15; Re 20:12.
(3) He judges rulers of nations.
Is 40:23 – He brings the princes to nothing; He makes the judges of the earth useless. Je 25:17–27; Re 6:15–17
(4) He judges his own people.
1 Pe 4:17 – For the time has come for judgment to begin at the house of God; and if it begins with us first, what will be the end of those who do not obey the gospel of God? Heb 10:30
(5) He judges angels.
2 Pe 2:4 – For if God did not spare the angels who sinned, but cast them down to hell and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved for judgment; Jud 6
(6) He judges Satan.
Re 20:10 – The devil, who deceived them, was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone where the beast and the false prophet are. And they will be tormented day and night forever and ever. 1 Ti 3:6
